Welcome to the beautiful greater Montreal region!

We will periodically update this page to add logistical information regarding the CIRA annual conference, which will be held from May 24 to 26, 2024 at the Longueuil campus of the University of Sherbrooke.

Travel

Conference location:

University of Sherbrooke – Longueuil Campus

150 Pl. Charles-Le Moyne, Longueuil, QC J4K 0A8

There is (paid) underground parking, accessible via Saint-Charles Street.

But, why take the car when the campus is located directly above the “Longueuil – Université de Sherbrooke” metro station (yellow line)? To get there, board the yellow line at Berri-UQAM station. You must pay for an STM zones AB ticket ($4.50). Otherwise, you run the risk of a penalty!

The Berri-UQAM station will also be your transfer point if you arrive by bus (from Quebec, Ottawa, or Toronto), or if you take the 747 shuttle from Pierre-Elliott-Trudeau airport.

If you take a VIA Rail train, you will arrive at Gare Centrale (Bonaventure metro station, orange line). Follow the directions to the metro station and take the orange line towards “Montmorency” and then transfer at the “Berri-UQAM” station.

Accommodation

We recommend that you do not limit yourself to the City of Longueuil to find accommodation. As long as you are within walking distance of the green or orange metro lines in Montreal, you will get to the conference site quickly and easily.

Nevertheless, two relatively inexpensive suggestions in downtown Montreal, both of which are unionized:

Le Nouvel Hôtel

1740 Boul. René-Lévesque West, Montreal (Qc),  H3H 1R3

Lucien L’Allier (orange line) or Guy-Concordia (green line) métro stations

Food & entertainment

Smoked meat, poutine, fine cuisine, comedy shows, jazz, Quartier des spectacles, le Plateau, le Mile End, and the gay village—Montréal is known for its diverse restaurant options and nightlife attractions. Montréal’s relatively affordable prices let you have fun and eat well without breaking the bank. However, due to its popularity, it’s important to plan and to make reservations well in advance!
